About Lava Chicken
Lava Chicken is a Hyper Potions remix of “Steve’s Lava Chicken”, performed by Jack Black as Steve in A Minecraft Movie. Its chicken-jockey drop is a nod to the film’s chicken-jockey moment, and the disc remains playable via the same sound index as 1.21.6. Its absurd origin makes it the jokiest item in the jukebox catalogue — and at 2:15, one of the shorter modern discs.
How to get Lava Chicken in survival
Dropped by a chicken jockey — kill the baby zombie rider before the chicken.
Once you have the disc, place it in a jukebox to play it. A redstone comparator reading the jukebox outputs a signal strength of 9 while Lava Chicken is playing, which redstone builders use to detect exactly which disc is in the box.
Replacing Lava Chicken with your own music
Lava Chicken is currently the newest disc slot, requiring Minecraft 1.21.7 or later in the generator. It is the obvious slot for comedy and meme replacements — the vanilla disc already is one. Remember the slot simply will not exist in packs generated for older versions.
- Open the MineVinyl generator and select Java Edition 1.21.7 or later.
- Upload your audio to the Lava Chicken slot. MineVinyl converts it to the mono OGG Vorbis format Minecraft expects — here's why mono matters.
- Download the zip and install it like any resource pack. Play Lava Chicken in a jukebox to hear your track.
Only the audio changes — the disc item, its name, texture and loot sources all stay vanilla, and every disc you don't assign keeps its original sound.
