How to edit an existing Minecraft music disc pack

What MineVinyl reads back out of your pack

When you upload a previously generated .zip or .mcpack, MineVinyl detects which Minecraft version and format it was built for, which disc slots have audio assigned, and any custom disc names you gave them — then pre-fills the generator with all of it. The audio itself doesn't need reconverting; it's already the final format Minecraft expects.

This only works for packs MineVinyl itself generated. A hand-edited or third-party pack will show an import error instead of a partial, guessed result.

Step 1 — Import your pack

Open the MineVinyl generator and click "Already have a MineVinyl pack? Import it to edit." above the output format picker, then choose your .zip or .mcpack file. The version, format, disc slots, and pack details all update to match what was in the file.

Step 2 — Add, remove, or swap discs

• To add a disc: assign audio to any slot that's still empty, the same way you would when building a pack from scratch.
• To remove a disc: click Remove on any slot that came in already assigned.
• To swap a track: upload a new file to a slot that's already assigned — it replaces the existing audio.

Slots you don't touch keep exactly what came in from the imported pack, custom names included.

Step 3 — Regenerate

Click Generate Resource Pack as usual. For Bedrock packs, the regenerated .mcpack keeps the original pack's identity — the same header and module UUIDs as the pack you imported — so Minecraft treats it as updating the same add-on rather than installing a new one.

Troubleshooting
